I ordered this unit so that my hands could have relief when holding my phone or tablet while reading. I also frequently use my laptop while sitting in my Lazyboy recliner. I bought a repackaged unit to save a few dollars. I could hardly tell it had been repackaged.
Speaking of packaging, this stand comes very well packaged for shipment and easy access for assembly. The packaging matches the quality product this truly is. The instructions were very easy to follow. The parts are sturdy and fit as planned without a problem.
As I put it together I was impressed with its quality and well thought-out design. The base is well weighted and would be hard to tip over since the counter weight moves opposite the stand arm.
The stand held my 16" HP laptop well. It also holds my tablet without fear of it sliding off due to the flip up supports at the bottom of the stand tray. I specifically chose this model due to it's 18" center reach over the chair.
So what is not perfect? The 18" reach is not quite enough for my chair and I would think for many similar recliners. It may be all that can be accommodated from an engineering standpoint. It means that I have to set it at a slight angle because it won't quite center on the chair. This is compounded by the design of the arm. If I have it come from the side over the arm of the chair, it doesn't come low enough for efficient typing or even tablet reading. It's hard to see over the tray when I'm also watching TV.
I was concerned about some of this before ordering and I watched the promotional videos, but they never truly show it going over the arm of an easy chair. They do show it lining up with the front corner of the chair and reaching into the chair area, but when I do that the tablet or laptop has to be at an angle.
I'm really high on the value of this product, but I wish they had an arm that came over the arm of the chair and then down into the chair area. The wheels struggle to roll on the carpet, but it wouldn't need that much rolling if the arm design could be lower into the seat area.
